It exists in all cultures throughout all periods of time.
Each culture has its own unique manifestation of the universal impulse.
But the process whereby one becomes a "shamanic individual" seems to always follow more or less the same pattern.
And the emergence of the "shamanic archetype" always seems to happen in response to crisis, illness, trauma, evil, oppression, and death.
The shamanic archetype is the healing and redemptive response...
...that guides through the crisis, the illness, the trauma, the death...
...to a new life, to a spiritual rebirth.
In the 21st century, Western civilization itself is going through immense spiritual crisis.
As a result, Westerners are experiencing spiritual awakening and shamanic crisis more intensely than any other time in history.
And centuries of Church dominance only paved the way for the emergence of atheism, scientific materialism, and materialistic psychiatry, which also persecutes the shamanic impulse from the other direction.
So Western civilization has an unbroken 1700 year history of persecuting the shamanic impulse from every possible angle. That is the karma of the civilization in which we are now living and having our spiritual awakening.
And New Age spirituality is not equipped to guide us through a genuine shamanic initiation process either. It is not rooted in an unbroken chain of shamanic elderhood, and is filled with charlatanism and fantasy mingled with truth.
And so many of us are seeking shamanic elderhood and initiatory training outside of our civilization, especially with the shamans of south america or the Yogis of Indian civilization.
But this isn't ideal either, because shamanism must grow out of the culture it is meant to serve.
Shamans who did not grow out of Western civilization are not well equipped to guide and train shamanic candidates within Western civilization.
So this new generation of "Western shamanic individuals" who are awakening in the 21st century are suffering a lack of reliable and qualified initiatory guidance and elderhood from within our own culture.
But these traditions have been hidden, and evolved into occultism, esotericism, and the body of teachings and initiation rites found within the walls of secret societies.
But over the past 300 years, occultism has become darkened and corrupted by the temptations of power.
So you can't trust Western occultism to guide you either. It is not a good idea to go seeking initiation into secret societies in order to guide you through your shamanic, spiritual awakening.
There is a thin thread of purity and integrity and truthfulness that has survived.
In the Renaissance, this thread was carried on by the Rosicrucians.
Rosicrucians were the illuminated "shamans" of Western civilization, and they gave birth to the golden age of alchemy in europe.
Alchemy is Western civilization's manifestation of shamanic wisdom.
Rosicrucian alchemy is the closest thing we have to an uncorrupted shamanic lineage of initiatory wisdom.
In the 1900's, the Rosicrucian impulse re-emerged and re-invented itself through one man: Rudolf Steiner.
Rudolf Steiner rescued the Western occult wisdom from obscurity and corruption.
And the secret code language of alchemy was rescued from obscurity by another 20th century sage: the pioneering psychologist Carl Jung.
Taken together, Carl Jung and Rudolf Steiner can be considered great Western shamans of the 20th century, who rescued our civilization's shamanic wisdom from obscurity and corruption.
The School of Modern Soul Science stands on the shoulders of these two great elders.
But there is something more.
What about the role of Entheogens? (sacred use of psychedelics)
Where do entheogens fit into the story?
What do entheogens have to do with shamanism and initiation?
What do entheogens have to do with alchemy?
And there are two levels being offered:
The 100-level curriculum has been created for those who are in the midst of their initiatory crisis, or who have passed through it and are now wanting to move to the next stage of their journey.
The 100-level brings an archetypal approach to shamanism and shamanic initiation together with alchemy, mythology, Jungian psychology, and creative art therapy.
In addition to offering a wealth of lectures, the curriculum includes "alchemical homework assignments" that bring about profound transformations, re-organization, and even healing of your psyche.
The 200-level curriculum is a more advanced body of teachings that has been created primarily for those for whom entheogens play an integral role in their spiritual journey.
The 200-level (called "Cristo-Hermetic Shamanism) would also be of great interest to those who are already deeply fascinated with Western occultism, occult science, Alchemy, Rosicrucianism, and the work of Rudolf Steiner, alongside an abiding fascination with entheogens.
The 100-level is a specialized curriculum created for Westerners grappling with the emergence of the Shamanic Archetype -- for individuals who are going through a strong initiatory crisis, who are looking for guidance, a curriculum to follow, mentorship, and a community of kindred souls going through more or less the same thing.
The 100-level curriculum guides the student through a serious round of alchemical inner work, healing, soul-retrieval, education, training, and maturation toward their higher spiritual purpose.
It helps to stabilize the powerful energies swirling around the early stages of the initiation process, and brings more clarity, strength, and stability.

Mercurius is the secret to healing, the central concept of Alchemy, and a most essential and elusive concept of archetypal shamanism in general.

He/she is the transformative Spirit itself, called by the alchemists (among many other names) the “anima mundi” -- the soul of the world.
And if you can manage to bottle this tricky spirit, you will have the first step to accomplishing the Alchemical Opus.

Introduction to the Science of Initiation
To take control of your initiatory process, you need to consciously understand what is going on within you.
In this course, you will study the spiritual anatomy of your higher bodies - the bodies that carry out shamanic work, and that make it possible for your Divine Higher Self to incarnate through your ego.
You will dive into a study of:

- your ego, and it’s indispensable role in the modern initiatory process
